Shaun Murphy, a world-class player in snooker, is well-known for his straight cue action and long potting. Over 400 century breaks have been achieved by Murphy, including the 2nd highest in the Championship League in 2014.

Murphy was ranked number three in the world at the start of the 2008/2009 season. However, he fell to number seven for the 2010/2011 season. He won the Players Tour Championship, and completed his career Triple Crown. Murphy was considered a huge underdog at the time, and it was a surprising win. He then reached the finals at the UK Championship in 2012. He was eventually defeated by Judd Trump.

Murphy is considered a highly skilled player. He has many firsts in his professional career. His first 147 break, first ranking title and first appearance at the World Snooker Championship are just a few of his many firsts.

His career began on the Challenge Tour, also known by the UK Tour in 1998. Tony, his dad, was a professional player golfer. As a teenager, he was bullied at school. He went to homeschooling classes but didn't see his mother until he was 19. A year later, he met his wife, Elaine, and they were married in June 2006. Despite his family's misgivings, the couple were engaged in 2014.

In his career, Shaun has won over PS3 million in prize money. He has won seven tournaments that are not ranking. He has also played in eight ranking tournaments and reached the quarterfinals of two.

At the start of the 2004/2005 season, he was ranked number four in the world. He also won the Brugge Open and Welsh Open. He was also diagnosed with Savant Syndrome.

In 2005, he won his first World Championship. The next year he was named Sportsman of the Year by the BBC. After that, he became a surgical resident at the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital in California.

Murphy struggled with communication as a boy. Murphy's social skills may have been affected by this. While he's had some difficult relationships, he was able to work through them. He even proposed to Elaine at an Irish restaurant during one of his matches.

Ray Reardon coached him when he turned 15 years old. After that, he continued his work with Steve Prest to 2006. Willie Thorne provided coaching for the 2007/2008 Season. He won the Challenge Tour's third- and fourth events.

Murphy won the Wuxi Classic, China. After that, Murphy entered the elite top 16. His next appearance was at the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. Despite the tournament's shortest qualifying rounds of just five frames, he reached his quarterfinals and defeated teenage Luca Brecel.

He went on to win the German Masters and the Ruhr Championship as well as the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. He remained at number 3 for the entire 2008/2009 campaign. He also reached the semi finals of both the Shanghai Masters and UK Championship during that season.
